It focuses on the deployment of the Indian Peacekeeping Force (IPKF) in Sri Lanka between 1987 and 1990, the origins and build-up of the conflict which led to the IPKF's intervention and its aftermath. The author pays equal attention to both Sri Lankan and Indian perspectives. He adopts a broad international relations/peacekeeping viewpoint, using international relations concepts to analyze the Indo-Sri Lankan relationship in a regional and global context.
