Book excerpt: Description: This series consists of 120 pieces of personal correspondence from Private Harry Rinnier, to his wife, Florence, and son in Manoa, Pennsylvania. At the beginning of the correspondence, Rinnier is at the recruit reception and training center in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania. He is then sent to For McClellan, Alabama, in December 1943 and remains there until April 1944. Rinnier is transferred to Fort George Meade, Maryland, and other areas along the East Coast before being assigned to the 359th Infantry Regiment, 90th Infantry Division and shipped off to England in June 1944. In July, Rinnier's unit was sent to France and he remained there until November 1944. In December, Rinner was predominantly in Germany but was also in Luxembourg. The correspondence when Rinnier was killed during the Battle of the Bulge on 18 December 1944.;Personal correspondence, military documents, and photographs from the service of Private Harry Rinnier, who was killed in action during the Battle of the Bulge while serving with the 359th Infantry Regiment, 90th Infantry Division.
