Book excerpt: Lin Coffin has been able to see ghosts since she was a little girl and living on the island of Nantucket provides plenty of opportunities to interact with spirits. It is early May and Lin and Leonard are doing spring cleanup for their landscape clients, Jeff and his partner continue to renovate houses, and Viv is getting the bookstore-café ready for the tourist season. Lin hasn't seen a ghost since November and has enjoyed the peaceful winter and the bustle of spring, but there is a problem on the island. Fire has engulfed two houses and their interiors have been a total loss, and the townsfolk are worried there might be an arsonist on the loose. Lin and Viv discover a third fire and there is something about it that makes the cousins think it has something to do with a ghost. Will they be able to help restore calm to the island by finding the person responsible for the fires while also helping a ghost find peace, or will everything go up in smoke? This story has some mild paranormal elements.
