The industry contributes 10.4 percent of the world’s GDP, and it is the second fastest growing sector of the global economy with 3.9%. annual growth. It also generates 10 percent of global employment and is expected to support 11.7 percent of world employment by 2029 (WTTC 2019). India’s tourism sector contributed 9.2 percent of India’s GDP with annual growth rate of 6.7 percent and contributed 8.1 percent of India is employment (WTTC 2018). However, tourism has both a positive and negative impacts on the socio – economic conditions and environment of a tourist destination.
