These regions are becoming more important because of the need to exploit their natural resources, so that oil and mining industries require periglacial geomorphologists on their staff. This book presents a review of the present status of periglacial geomorphology as reflected through a series of themes, including weathering and sediment transport, active layer processes, process-form relationships and broad aspects of the periglacial system. The focus is firmly on the achievements of the last decade, and spans representative examples of European and North American work.
