The primary question to be answered was whether state-level high school graduation standards should be developed... In May 2001, the Kansas State Board of Education approved a set of goals and objectives that indicated a review of graduation requirements. A task force was formed in July 2001 and met on July 31, 2001, and again on August 31. The task force reviewed the current requirements; reviewed "The Lost Opportunity of Senior Year: Finding a Better Way" report prepared by the Education Trust; and reviewed the original proposal.
