Explosive material is anything that can be initiated to undergo very rapid decomposition resulting in the formation of more stable material, as well as the liberation of heat of the development of the sudden pressure effect. There are many different types of explosive detection that can be used in different fields. Explosive detection is extremely useful for many government agencies, and specifically for homeland security and other counter-terrorism organizations. Unfortunately, in the late 20th century there were many terrorist threats. Examples of these include threats on airplanes and to cities worldwide. The increase in threats led to new developments in the field of explosive detection.
