Book excerpt: Excerpt from Fourteenth Annual Insurance Report of the Auditor of Public Accounts of the State of Illinois, 1882, Vol. 2: Life and Accident Insurance Abstracts of the annual statements of these companies are herein presented, and the figures reported therein setting forth their busi ness and condition have been so combined and tabulated as to enable those who take interest in the statistics of life and accident insurance to readily comprehend them. Two companies which transact an accident insurance business, but not a life insurance business, viz: the Fidelity and Casualty Insu rance Company of New York, and the Accident Insurance Company of North America, of Montreal, Canada, are' included in Part I of this report, by reason of their having filed statements under and complied with the general provisions of the law governing the busi ness of fire insurance, by virtue of the act of May 31, 1879. There are, therefore, two companies in addition to the life and accident company mentioned herein, which are authorized to transact the business of accident insurance in this State.
