Book excerpt: By May 1964 the percent of households in the United States with television sets reached 93, up 3 percentage points from 90 percent found in January 1962. The proportion of households with one set has not changed significantly during the past four years. Apparently, households acquiring their first set replace the households moving from the one-set category into the two-or-more set category. The latter group increased from about one household in eight in 1961, to about one household in six in 1964.
