After Hunters come to the mountain, Jonas and his family must move to the Dark Forest. Jonas is sad, but along the journey Jonas's father teaches him about the way the animals all used to care for each other before the Hunters came. Jonas meets all new kinds of animals in the Dark Forest, but not all of them want to be friends with Jonas. They don't understand how a bear would want to get along with animals that are so different from each other. But when Jonas grows up, he meets a mountain lioness, and she has been hurt by the Hunters. Jonas knows that he must extend a paw of kindness and look past their differences. Can Jonas teach the other animals of the Dark Forest about friendship through his actions?
