Book excerpt: The book is about the practices and sayings of the Prophet [PBUH] of Islam which is arranged in the contemporary perspective i.e. functions of management. The contents have been divided into five parts: introduction, planning, organising, leading and controlling. The first part deals with the development of his managerial thoughts over time. The second discusses his planning endeavours in various expeditions that he had undertaken in his life. The third is reserved for organising human and non-human resources in many of his life achievements. The fourth argues about the different dimensions of his leading capabilities and qualities. The final part summarises some of the controlling measures that he had taken during military and social activities. Each of the last four parts has been enhanced with a case study. The purpose of it is to strengthen the topic with a specific example because case study is a popular pedagogical approach of teaching and learning in business schools. The audience of the book is learners, managers and common people to understand the managerial thinking of the Prophet [PBUH] who has been ranked as number one person who influenced the world in the known history.
