In Ethiopia sheep and goats are mostly kept by smallholders and the rural poor, including women headed households. The trend in Ethiopian sheep and goat under mixed production systems are normally kept in small flocks and opportunities to increase their production a result of the increasing human population in most highland areas, the practice of restraining and housing these small ruminants is on the rise. Improvements to increase productivity and sustainable development of small ruminants in different farming systems of the country in innovative approach so as to meet the demands of the human population.Depending on this review it is imperative to practice modern production systems with better technology in urban and rural areas to improve the traditional system through feed supplementation and better health care.
