Book excerpt: Description: This series (1 sleeve) consists of letters and greeting cards from James Fisher Jr., to his parents, Reverend James and Mrs. Nannie Fisher, Cameron, West Virginia. The first two letters in the series were written when Fisher was in Lowry Field, Denver, Colorado. He was then transferred to Buckley Field, Denver, Colorado for a brief period of time before he was once again transferred. The other stations Fisher was later assigned to include Camp Atterbury, Indiana; Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia; Camp Lee, Virginia; Mason General Hospital, Brentwood, New York; and Halloran General Hospital, Staten Island, New York. In his letters Fisher writes about his frustration having to wait on orders, exploring the different cities, being promoted to Second Lieutenant, and the different facilities he works in. In his letter written on 16 May, Fisher enclosed a photograph of his friendâ€TMs wife and child. Also included is a Christmas card to his sister, Dorothy.;Personal correspondence from the service of Second Lieutenant James Fisher Jr. who served as a clinical psychologist in the United States Army on the Home Front.
