He married Jannette Pebnman in 1823, and they immigrated in 1840 from Scotland to New York City. They settled on land in Essex County, New York, and later moved to Crown Point, New York. In 1849 they moved to Kendall County, Illinois. Descendants and relatives lived in New York, Ohio, Illinois, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, California and elsewhere. Includes ancestry and family history in Scotland to the 1600s.
