The Reynolds number based on free stream conditions and leading edge thickness varied from 115, where viscous effects predominated, to 14,550, where inviscid effects predominated. Shock wave shape and pressure and heat transfer distributions over the plate were obtained. In general, good agreement existed between the measurements and the various theories. The use of appropriate parameters allowed the results to be compared with those of a similar study using helium as the test fluid. Good correlation was found between the measurements made in air and in helium. (Author).
