The first section of the book looks at the history of Tonder bobbin lace, which dates from around 1600 and was a thriving industry in the Tonder district until the second half of the 19th century. Stories are told of the characterful lives of some of the lacemakers. This book features many of the patterns of the first half of the 19th century as well as a list of museums and suppliers and a brief dictionary of lace terms in Danish and English.
